“To learn to speak is to learn to tell a story.”

Ursula LeGuin

M. Carolyn Miller, M.A., is an author, educator and consultant who works with organizations and their audiences to foster meaning-making and a sense of magic in every life story. She describes herself as an explorer who travels to the interior of the psyche and then returns to write about it and design tools so others can make the journey. Her goal is to act as scout and guide, take people to the “interior,” and shed some light and humor on the path. The journey of personal transformation may be an individual act, but it does not have to be undertaken alone. As Lily Tomlin says, “We are all alone in this together.”

Creative Work

With over 25 years of professional writing experience, Carolyn is published nationally in some industries, and regionally, including with The Denver Post and as a personal growth columnist with Colorado Serenity. A member of the Colorado Authors’ League, she is the author of The Woman Who (Lost and) Found Her Wings, a novel/memoir, and creator of a line of personal growth games and tools, many of which are part of the Mythic Lives™ program.

Corporate Work

Carolyn’s corporate experience includes 10 years as an instructional designer and game developer, with a special focus on self-directed and accelerated learning. She is also a professional facilitator and speaker who laces stories and humor in her presentations. Proficient in the use of stories and games to teach Fortune 500 audiences, Carolyn’s client list spans multiple industries and populations and includes AT&T, Amoco, Texas Instruments, Kinko’s, Johns Manville North America, U S West and International Learning Systems, Inc., to name a few.

Transformation Work

Carolyn holds an M.A. in Transformative Language Arts (using language—written and spoken—for personal and social change) focused on Jungian psychology, narrative therapy, feminist theory, mythology and writing. It was the catalyst for Mythic Lives™. Developed as part of her graduate work and a personal desire to lead a more authentic life, Mythic Lives offers a unique methodology and a transdisciplinary approach that resonates with personal experience. It takes participants on a personal journey, with others, to write, tell and explore their personal mythologies so they can gain a new sense of direction, meaning and purpose and lead healthier and more authentic lives. Increasingly, Mythic Lives™ is finding its way into more formal circles and has been introduced to the Women’s Vision Foundation, the University of Denver Women’s College, Naropa University and Colorado State University as both workshops and keynotes.
